WIPs but chicken pix first

Here are my new chicks. ALL speckled, a Barred Rock and 2 Auracanas. They are about 8 weeks old more. Intregration into the "flock" has gone well but in reality I now have 2 flocks. The solid colored big  hens and the speckled little hens, they mostly roam and scratch in 2 distinct groups.

Here is my latest (hand pieced) star quilt that I made with the scraps from the big one I made last summer. I'm done with stars for a while but probably have a tumbling blocks in my future but NOT for a while. I need a break now from hand piecing these little diamonds for now.

This is up on my wall with my greens and blues from my Denyse Schmidt collection. I'm not wild about it so I'm thinking this may become 2 baby quilts instead of a big quilt. It got better when I added in the solids but...

Little houses is done

it was windy and kinda hard to take a photo of this so Addie just wrapped it around her and snuggled in it for the rest of the afternoon.

my houses have sidewalks and a garden.

Hop-py Easter

Our hens have started laying again---today we had a "Quail" egg form one of them!

This is my next project up on the wall...a neighborhood! As I piece these I'm dreaming up a border any ideas?

I love rainy days. I get a lot done and have time to think....make lists and plans. Loved sewing this new thumbler or thimble quilt for Vanessa.

I know I'm crazy but here are some of the plans...I'm packing a bag of college linens for Addie and I'm taking it with me to MA next week. I KNOW it's early and believe me I'm not anxious for her to go but I am practical. My flight will allow 2 free bags (thank you SWA) and I'm going to take some of the stuff she will need and leave it at her sister's house. Hey! it's cheapers the UPS! So here are her towels that I embellished at her request (this thrills ME to no end!)

and a laundry bag I made and some recycled hangers I wrapped. Everyone will know they are hers and her clothes won't slide off them. I've been using the same fabric that I used on her quilt...we've got this maroon and grey theme going.

I knew there were some photos that I'd been meaning to post and here they are- these were my Valentine's this year. The teen didn't think it was cool to make lip balm and pass it out to her friends so I made it for my friends and they ALL thought it was cool.

I saw a shirt with a racoon tail and thought I'd modify for my FOXY grandson.
Here is "Dixie Cups". Originally I was going to machine quilt it but last night I felt compelled to hand stitch it. I did question my sanity but still think it's a good idea. I love the soft drape of a hand quilting.

The best part of making "Dixie Cups" with all my favorite Denyse Schmidt fabrics is that there were scraps! So I made these...

It's a glorious "spring" day here in northern California. Our winter has been very slight on rain :( which we will desperately need. Since the sun shines, I won't waste it so I'm going to sit out back and stitch. I always envy Lily her back yard photos so I think I'll indulge.
